DIRECTOR OF CHRISTIAN FORMATIONCHRIST CHURCH, OYSTER BAYOVERVIEWThe Director of Christian Formation DCF will facilitate Christian Formation for youth, from ages 5-18. Main responsibilities are oversight of Church School ages 5-12 and Episcopal Youth Community ages 13-18, with occasional adult formation in collaboration with the Rector. The DCF will involve and train lay leaders, implement innovative programs, and create disciples of Jesus. The right applicant will have an enthusiastic Christian faith and know the Episcopal Church, communicate effectively in speaking and writing, and have a good sense of humor.REQUIREMENTSThis is a part time position with an average of twenty hoursweek, with the understanding that summer hours are reduced and extra time is required during certain church seasons, such as Christmas and LentEaster. Masters degree or bachelors with equivalent experience desired. This position is open Summer 2012.SPECIFICATIONSThe DCF is to be the point person in the parish for welcoming all new families and youth. DCF is responsible for oversight of Sunday School, including recruiting and training volunteer teachers, coordinating special events including the annual Christmas Pageant, implementing curricula, intervening with problems with teachers and discipline of children. This person would also be overseeing the Nursery Coordinator and nursery program, as well as ensuring all programs follow diocesan qualifications for being a safe church. In addition, the DCF is responsible for the Episcopal Youth Community EYCs bi-monthly gatherings and teaching Confirmation class to eligible teens. Lastly, the continuation of a recently-formed young professionals group those in their 20s30s40s is expected.Christ Church averages 150 in Sunday attendance and is located on the North Shore of Long Island.
